Flight Modes Explained
Learn about the different flight modes available on the Field Ranger X50 for various field operations.
Field Ranger X50: Flight Modes
The Field Ranger X50 offers multiple flight modes tailored to different operational needs. Each mode is designed to maximize efficiency and flexibility depending on the field layout, crop type, and mission goals.
M+ Mode (Manual Enhanced)
M+ Mode is ideal for small or irregularly shaped fields that don’t benefit from pre-planned routes. In this mode, you can manually control the drone’s path while taking advantage of smart enhancements like heading lock.
The heading lock feature maintains the drone's directional orientation, helping it fly in straight lines even when slight joystick corrections are made. You can also pre-set lateral movement steps to allow side-stepping for efficient area coverage.
To start, open the Smart Flight app, select "Start Operation" → "Manual Enhanced Operation (M+)," and define your spraying parameters before takeoff.
AB Point Mode
AB Point Mode is best suited for rectangular fields or when you need the drone to repeatedly spray along a straight path.
The operation begins by manually flying the drone to mark two points—Point A and Point B—on opposite ends of the field. Once marked, the drone will automatically fly back and forth between the two points, spraying according to your specified speed, altitude, and flow rate.
After each pass, the drone can shift laterally by a set distance to cover the next lane, making it ideal for evenly spaced crop rows.
Route Operation
Route Mode is the most advanced option, enabling fully autonomous flight along a custom-mapped route. In this mode, you first create a field map using the Smart Flight app's "Task Planning" feature. You can define boundaries, obstacles, no-spray zones, and reference points.
After uploading the route to the drone, it will carry out the spraying task with minimal user intervention. This mode is ideal for large, complex fields and offers the most efficient and repeatable spraying performance.
Route Mode also supports obstacle detection, smart flow rate adjustment, and real-time monitoring of spray coverage and system status.

Each of these modes serves a specific use case. Choose the one that best matches your field conditions and operational goals to ensure optimal performance from your Field Ranger X50.
